Omega 3's to Decrease Inflammation

As a Chiropractor, in West End, my job is to help people move better and decrease inflammation that is causing their neck pain, back pain, headaches, or any type of pain. I focus on 3 main factors that determine people’s pain, how they’re moving, how they’re eating, and how they’re managing stress. Recently, I’ve been talking with my patients in St. Louis Park about how fasting has been found to have significant benefits for brain health and cognitive function. The article referenced below highlights that periods of fasting induce a state of mild stress on the brain, leading to the activation of adaptive cellular responses that enhance brain resilience. Fasting has been shown to promote the production of neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which play a crucial role in neuronal growth, connectivity, and cognitive function.

Moreover, the research article suggests that fasting can improve synaptic plasticity, which is crucial for learning and memory processes. By stimulating the production of new neurons and increasing the formation of neural connections, fasting has the potential to enhance cognitive abilities and protect against age-related cognitive decline. Furthermore, this article highlights how fasting can lead to improvements in other aspects of brain health, such as reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and insulin resistance, all of which have been linked to neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

In addition to the direct benefits of fasting on brain health, there is a strong interrelationship between mental health and overall health and wellbeing. Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social aspects of our lives, and it significantly influences physical health outcomes. Research has consistently shown that individuals with better mental health exhibit healthier behaviors and have improved physical health outcomes, including reduced risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, and obesity.
