Meditation Helps with Managing Stress

One of the three main things our Chiropractors talk about here in our West End office is eating right, moving our body (exercise), and managing your stress. Managing your stress is one of the biggest challenges for most people, simply because they don’t have an outing of some sort. Some people have their own ways of relieving stress, or managing your stress but really one of the easiest things you can do is meditate. Meditation has been found to be helpful not only for your mental health, but also your physiological health. One of the things it helps do is lower your blood pressure and your heart rate. This is essential for people with high anxiety because this allows them to mentally slow down. When we go throughout our day there are a lot of things that we have to keep up with or keep tabs on if you will. Meaning, there is a lot of thoughts floating in our heads and multiple questions being asked. This can and usually is a stressful thing to keep up with, simply because our mind can only hold so much information before we mentally “explode”. I use the term explode because that what’s we feel like. When there is so much going on in our life we just start to feel overwhelmed. So, my question to everybody is what is it that you do to unwind, or detach from the real world for a minute or two to get your feet back under you? Meditation can be that for you. Meditation allows you to recenter your thoughts and align them with whatever it is you are trying to focus on. It allows us to focus on our breath and learn how to use that to help calm our nerves and make the best decisions for ourselves. It’s a grounding experience to be able to just breathe and put our focus on one thing, which should be your breath in that very moment. All it takes is 10-15 minutes to be able to have a good quality meditation session, and I promise you’ll see a difference in how you view life. Here is a good quote from the research I have found about how meditation can help lower your blood pressure levels.
