Decrease Inflammation with Green Smoothies
Video by Dr. John Wertish
As a Chiropractor I help people who want to decrease inflammation. I’ve found that one of the best ways to decrease inflammation at home is with green smoothies. We are all familiar with rhubarb pie and cake. If we eliminate all the sugar, flour, unhealthy fats, we are left with a dense nutritional food, rhubarb. I grew up on a Minnesota farm and rhubarb was in abundance. What I did not know was all the health benefits. It can fight off bacteria and viruses, has anticancer properties, anti-inflammatory properties, helps digestion and is a boost for your gut microbiome. In the video attached we use organic frozen rhubarb; I would suggest using fresh organic rhubarb with your green smoothie. Inflammation is a significant cause of back pain. Movement is as important for our body in reducing pain. Reach out to one of our doctors on the Chiro health team and get your answers for being pain free.
“With the development of research focus on rhubarb, an increasing number of pharmacological effects have attracted the attention of researchers. The main pharmacological activities of rhubarb include antitumor, regulation of gastrointestinal flora, protection of the intestinal mucosal barrier, anti-inflammatory, and inhibition of fibrosis. In addition to emodin and sennoside, which are the main chemical components inhibiting fibrosis and purgation, most of the pharmacological effects are the result of the joint action of several anthraquinones in rhubarb”
Try this green drink out to spice up your shortcut to health.
