Benefits of Visualization

There are endless research study’s available that express the positive benefits of visualization ranging from increased athletic performance in professional athletes, to overall improved health in the regular population.  Visualization techniques can have a drastic effect on individuals’ emotions and can in lead to actual physical change in the body as well.  When we get a new patient in the clinic that suffers with pain, it is important that the individual understands and truly believes that they can and will get better and heal.  Both positive and negative self talk and visualization can have an effect, and the better the patient is able to get into a positive mindset about healing, usually the better the results.  The quote below highlight some of the key points from the attached research on how proper visualization in this specific study was able to create positive results for the participants.

“When participants had read the health message, visualization resulted in significantly stronger intentions, and the first-person perspective was significantly more effective than the third-person perspective. The beneficial effect of visualization, and the first-person perspective, on intentions was mediated by increased self-efficacy and action planning.”

At Minnesota Chiro Health, our chiropractors examine the person, and consider not only how their spine is functioning, but also what the diet looks like as well as how they manage stress to determine what the root cause of the problem is.  This helps us to ensure we are getting to the root cause of the dysfunction in the body and addressing all aspects of health to get our patients better, longer.  Getting sufficient sleep helps us function better on a daily basis while also taking unnecessary stress off the body.
