Antioxidants to Reduce Inflammation
Video by Dr. Timothy Dunn
Antioxidants are a very important nutrient essential to fighting off inflammation and other bad reactions in the body. Blueberries which are found in the smoothie recipe below are loaded with antioxidants and are great at reducing inflammation and free radicals in the body. Our bodies own metabolism produces free radicals called reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species. These radicals react with proteins and DNA in our bodies in a negative way causing inflammation, degeneration, and even cancer in the body. Luckily we have a way to fight these radicals off and that is through a healthy diet loaded with antioxidants. By drinking a smoothie loaded with great nutrients and antioxidants we can stop these radicals from forming and help to restore homeostasis back to the body. Below is a blueberry spinach smoothie recipe loaded with antioxidants to help fight off these free radicals.
